“SILASTIC™ Silicones for Electric Vehicles” Webinar by RDAbbott (November 16)

Join us on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM (ET) for a free webinar titled “SILASTIC™ for Electric Vehicles: Where, Why, and How to Use Silicone Rubber.”

In this webinar, Jake Steinbrecher and Brad Jones, Technical Service & Development Scientists for Dow, will highlight opportunities for silicone rubber in electric vehicles (EVs) with an emphasis on safety and material compatibility. SILASTIC™ silicones from Dow combine mechanical and chemical properties that many organic polymers cannot match.

This live event is part of RDAbbott’s 2023 Webinar Series, which provides technical insights, material updates, and processing recommendations from our supplier partners.

Why You Should Attend

Mobility OEMs are making major investments in EV development. Consumer adoption rates are increasing, but vehicle safety and reliability are key concerns. In addition to meeting buyer expectations for range and performance life, OEMs need to consider the increasing amount of energy stored in the battery pack.

In response to this situation, Dow has developed silicone rubber solutions for EV battery pack assembly, connectors, high-voltage cable insulation, thermal management, and other critical applications. Whether they’re cut, molded, or extruded, Dow SILASTIC™ silicones are used throughout EVs.

As compared to competitive products, the key benefits of Dow SILASTIC™ silicones for EVs include:

  • Long service life in adverse operating conditions
  • Wide operating temperature range
  • Excellent resistance to automotive fluids
  • Inherently good electrical insulation
  • Strong mechanical sealing

Dow SILASTIC™ silicones are available as both high-consistency rubber (HCR) and liquid silicone rubber (LSR) compounds.
